Inclusive Ceremonies:

Ceremonies for people with Disabilities

As a member of the community with multiple family members who have life changing disabilities, I have seen the difficulties that can be faced. This understanding is constantly in mind when I prepare for ceremonies.

I am committed to ensuring that the community and in particular your ceremony, is accessible to and inclusive of people with disabilities, their families and carers.

I’ll work with you to ensure that once again you have a ceremony your way ensuring the best outcome for all.

Ceremonies in Auslan

I believe that all ceremonies should reflect the couple perfectly, which means providing the service in their language, whether it be English or Australian Sign Language (Auslan).

For clients who’s first language is Auslan, you’ll be pleased to know that I will happily work with your preferred interpreter. All meetings, the rehearsal, and the ceremony itself can be conducted in your native language including Auslan, providing you and your witnesses are fluent in the language. You may wish to consider engaging an interpreter for non-Auslan or other language users in attendance and I am able to assist with contacts for this purpose.

Creating inclusive ceremonies is more than just knowing a language. I place a high importance on understanding the cultural and community needs of the Australian Deaf community.

Communication between us will happen frequently to ensure a personalised service, and these meetings can be though whatever channels that make you the most comfortable. We can meet through face to face meetings or online channels such as FaceTime, WhatsAPP, or Skype.

Ceremonies in a language other than English

I believe that all ceremonies should reflect the couple perfectly, which means providing the service in their language.

For clients who’s first language isn’t English, you’ll be pleased to know that I will happily work with your preferred interpreter.

Creating inclusive ceremonies is more than just knowing a language. I place a high importance on understanding the cultural and community needs of my clients and will conduct significant research to ensure I can provide a professional service.
